Dreaming of studying in the United States, Célestin joined the very first Dual Degree cohort after transferring from Sciences Po Paris. While committing to a school he had never seen was a bit scary, the Dual Degree Program made it so worth it!
“I learned how to advocate for myself and others. It is up to you to plan your classes, get in touch with professors if you want to do research, and join clubs to gain the full experience of the program.”
At Sciences Po, Célestin was a member of the Brazilian percussion group La Batuka, getting to play at sporting events and even during the Carnaval de Paris.
He continued his extracurricular involvement at UC Berkeley as a member of several intramural soccer teams and through his fraternity, Phi Kappa Psi. A highlight for Célestin was helping to organize his fraternity’s scholarship dinner, which allowed members to get to know their professors on a more personal level.
